Had a great experience with my Agrawal - saw him twice - very friendly and made me feel at ease and I left both times feeling like he had really listened to me and was trying his best to get me a fast result.

Mr Agrawal has been looking after me for almost six years now after my diagnosis with breast cancer in 2014. Since then he has carried out a mastectomy, breast and nipple reconstruction and breast reduction for me. At all times I've found him to be patient, professional and empathetic, both in the operating theatre and at subsequent appointments. He is very reassuring, and takes time to explain things in simple terms, and is happy to repeat things if necessary.

Mr Agrawal is friendly and happy which helps make you feel at ease with him which is important when you could be faced with bad news. He shows interest in his patients and is chatty which helps remove nervousness. I don't think I could suggest any way to improve.

It is as a result of Mr Agrawal's skill as a surgeon and his prescribed treatment that I am able to write this today, three years after a scary diagnosis. I always felt that I trusted him and so I was able to complete the treatment. He is a kind man and I was able to ask questions and he answered them clearly and professionally. I am extremely grateful to him for the treatment I received and the continued monitoring.

Mr Agrawal is always pleasant, professional and welcoming, he is sensitive to the patients issues and offers advice willingly. He provides enough information for the patient to make an educated decision on medicines and treatments.

Profile

As a fully trained Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon, I carry out regular diagnostic fast track breast clinics and a full range of breast surgery, including sentinel node biopsy with intra-operative analysis, oncoplastic surgery and breast reconstruction. I also have a special interest in and undertake surgery for skin cancer.

I graduated from the London Hospital Medical College, University of London. My general surgical training was based around several centres of excellence in managing breast diseases, including The Royal Marsden Hospital where I developed oncoplastic techniques to optimise the cosmetic outcome of breast surgery.

I have always been interested in cancer surgery, and as part of my higher surgical training at the University College London, I was awarded a master's degree for my research into Gene Therapy for the prevention and treatment of cancer.

In 2007 I was appointed Consultant Surgeon at Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust. I have been the Clinical Lead/Head of department for the Breast and Endocrine Surgery and Surgical Oncology department for Portsmouth for over 10 years. I have also chaired and lead the Breast Multidisciplinary Team at Queen Alexandra Hospital for over 7 years.
I am the Surgical Lead for breast screening cancers and also the Joint Regional Lead for breast cancer for Wessex. I am the Lead Trainer for the Portsmouth National Oncoplastic Fellowship Program and have helped many trainees develop their skills for their consultant career.
